So You Want Waist Length?

10/27/2012
So you’ve watched plenty of videos of naturals with long, healthy, waist length (or almost waist length) hair and you want it too huh? Well…how are you going to get there? Can you actually do it?

For starters, the answer is YES! With the proper care your hair can grow as long as your little heart desires. Stop the ugly habit of thinking that Black hair cannot grow to fabulous lengths, because it can! The only reason why you haven’t reached your goal to waist length hair is because you haven’t had a clear way or regimen, to get there. Think of growing your hair like growing a healthy garden of flowers. If you have no idea what you’re doing or when to water it, then it’ll dry up and die, right? Exactly—breakage.

The key to achieving waist length hair is consistency. Stay consistent with an effective regimen designed to keep your hair constantly moisturized and protected from the elements. Try to steer clear away from over handling and manipulation.

Most importantly, be PATIENT! A lot of us tend to completely forget this part of growing our hair to max lengths. We get so caught up in wanting longer hair, but we forget that it takes good old fashioned patience to achieve it! Stay away from gimmicks promising long lengths in a short period of time, because chances are you’d be wasting your money. Vitamins/supplements are fine but try to focus on the health of your hair and body, rather than the speediness of growth. Keep track of your growth progress by taking pictures of your hair. Sometimes we don’t really see our progress unless we have pictures to refer back to.

Bottom line: you can do it! Your hair will be at waist length in no time, and you’ll be swinging your natural hair around like Rapunzel!

What is your hair goal and why? What methods will you do to get there and stay there ?

Look 'presidential' this election season with these 3 gorgeous, classy styles!

10/25/2012
All three of these styles are sure to turn heads as you march your way to the polls next month. Whether you choose to vote or not, sporting any one of these dos will have your feeling pretty 'presidential'.

Style 1)

Picture
Start with stretched hair. Smooth your hair upward starting from the back giving sort of a mohawk effect. Roll and tuck your hair starting from the nape all the way to your crown and secure the roll with a few bobby pins; leaving the front half of your hair hanging out. With the hair in the front that is left hanging out, tuck it underneath itself either facing forward or off to the side, creating a pompadour. Secure pompadour with pins. Try using Avaluxe Naturals Jasmine & Mimosa Moisture Rich -
ButterDream
, for a moisturized, shiny look.

Style 2)

Picture
Start with hair that has been blown out with a blowdryer. Section hair in half horizontally, from ear to ear. For bottom half, roll and tuck hair upward,
starting from the nape and secure with booby pins. Tuck any excess hair into the
roll and pin neatly out of sight. For top half, starting with
smooth sides, use the same roll and tuck method, but mold hair into desired style and shape with the palms of hands. Secure with pins. You may need a
styling pomade to hold hair
and flyaways in place.

Style 3)

Picture
For this style you can choose to style it with or without mini braids in front. Just smooth hair into a low ponitail. For longer hair: braid ponitail and wrap hair around itself creating a bun/donut. For shorter hair: Use Marley Braiding Hair or Kanekalon Braiding Hair to braid then wrap hair around itself to create a bun/donut. When securing the Marley Braiding Hair or Kanekalon Braiding Hair to your own hair, use an ouchless scrunchie or hair
pins.
