![]() July 13th was the day you all had been waiting for. If you follow me on Instagram (@theblackhairguru), you’d know that the most EPIC natural hair event took place on this day. Yours truly, Britany B., hosted the Cosmos and Curls Natural Hair Event in New York City with everyone’s favorite natural diva, Taren Guy of YouTube for the most luxurious of natural hair product lines, Carol’s Daughter! Together, we talked about the importance of protective styling, heat protection, and moisturizing; as well as talked about our own personal hair journeys to an incredibly beautiful audience full of natural-haired queens! It was amazing! We shared with the ladies which products worked for us, and in turn answered some of their hair-related questions. Now Taren Guy, she’s even more gorgeous in person; her and all of her big, beautiful, curly natural-haired glory! It was so exciting to actually meet some of my followers in person! There is no better feeling then the love and encouragement from complete strangers who support you! Of course, we didn’t remain strangers for long. After about 5 minutes of breaking the ice, and sharing our natural hair experiences, it was as if we had known each other all along! Of course, being that this was my first time in NYC I couldn’t help but to be a tourist! Oh my goodness, words cannot describe how incredibly amazing NYC is! Mind you, I was already thinking about moving to Manhattan, and this trip pretty much tipped my desire to move, over the edge. My beau, My beau’s brother and I visited Central Park, walked on the Brooklyn Bridge, gawked at the buildings in times square, enjoyed some random performance on the subway, shared a breath taking view of the entire city atop the Empire State Building and had some pretty serious NY style pizza! Haha! Can you believe we accomplished all of the sightseeing in ONE DAY! Talk about ready to collapse, exhausted! But this was by far the most exciting trip, and in all honesty, I was NOT ready to leave. There’s just something about the high energy vibe NYC has that South Florida just doesn’t. *sigh* Anywho, it most definitely will NOT be my last time in the Big Apple! Huge, ginormous props go out to Monifa Coffee, Retail Manager at the Carol’s Daughter in Garden City and Celebrity Makeup artist who hooked me up with the gig in the first place! She put the event together and it was a beautiful success! Thank youuuu! Even more props go out to all the ladies who came out and enjoyed good company, product giveaways and free cocktails courtesy of Skinny Girl Cocktails! Woot! Last but not least, did I mention that Lisa Price, Owner and Founder of Carol’s Daughter, tagged me on Instagram and thanked me for the event HERSELF?! I almost died! Lisa Price is such an inspiration, her book (which I literally JUST finished), “Success Never Smelled So Sweet,” is a sheer testament to her awesomeness! Thank you Lisa, (if she ever reads this) lol! Did you attend the event? I think it’s time for an EPIC event in Miami, Fl…who’s down?
